This com is dying

My current computer at home, a free Compaq Presario from the Starhub Broadband Plan, is dying. Buying a new com + bed soon.

Eve of Christmas

Today is Christmas Eve. I went out with Law, Bing and An to e2max again, but got a bad experience with their staff again : ( Therefore, we went home. I don't really understand why some people like to celebrate Christmas Eve on the streets. It's like a riot out there. So messy. Christmas Eve should be spent with your friends & loved ones, in a quiet, tranquil place. Not some dirty road...

Important Moment

My career begins today, at a school : )

Covered in Flour?

Yesterday I went to Russell's chalet at Downtown East. There was plenty of craziness. I went there at about 7pm. From P2S4, there was Adrian, Alvin, Russell, Me, Nicholas, Kevin, Ah Seng, Terence and Jason. Kevin arrived quite late, about 11pm, along with Joe, Nick Loy and Kandiban. There was also Moonface & Nobita there too. There was also another group of Russell's close friends, and they are the crazy ones.

How crazy are they? How about getting covered in flour, egg and whipped cream right in front of your parents. It is so crazy that everyone around the BBQ pit stopped to take a look. Of course, the BMTC pals were hiding somewhere so that we will not take splash damage.

Notes:
- One of the 3 female friends of Russell that came was a national runner! She was even wearing the Team Singapore shirt.
- Some of the people at the BBQ pit beside ours were from Eagle coy, and our BMTC people were so friendly that they ended up playing with some of us.
- Some of us were so drunk that they did lots of crazy stuff.

Army Update 290908

This is the 1st post about my army life. As I cannot disclose anything specific, I'll just post my thoughts here.

What I have learned
- Time is precious
- To your commanders, you are their TOY/ TOOL
- Stay alert! You never know when your commanders will do to you (Cyclone)
- Dust is your eternal enemy
- Dirt and soil isn't as dirty as it seems
- Water is good for you unless you drink too much (3 litres at 1 go?)
- Proper stretching exercises are good for muscle aches after training
- Running is faster than walking
- I can get at least Silver for IPPT if I train more
- Relationships can change in a blink of an eye
- Sunsets/ Sunrises are beautiful. So is the moon and the stars
- Singapore mainland emits a pretty bright, orange aura
- Changi International Airport is a really busy place

Last Day before NS

Today is the last day before I enter NS. It was a pretty fun day. I sold my Gameboy Advance SP at "01-394 Weng Cheong Optics & Contact Lens Centre, BLK 46-3 Commonwealth Drive". It's where Law tried to sell his PS2 last time. The shop is split into the optics shop and a second hand shop. They accept things like game consoles, TV and phones. I got $20 for my GBA SP. Not bad, considering that the battery is failing and there is a mysterious, irremovable spot on the screen.

After selling my GBA SP, I encountered what seemed like the "Monkey King" Sun Wu Kong's birthday celebration. It was pretty interesting as this is the first time I saw a man getting "possessed" by the spirit of a god. Whether he was faking it or not, he must be pretty tough to walk barefoot in the blazing sun. Exciting.

I then took the MRT to Harbourfront, and walked up Mt. Faber via the Marang Trail. I wanted to find the Cable Car Station. Turns out the station is disguised as a building I've walked past last time, Jewel Box. I don't dare explore the structure as it seemed like a high-class restaurant. Next time, I promise, when I am with friends, I will cheong it. After leaving the place, I walked to the start of Henderson Waves. It is a really tall bridge that connects various tall parks like Mt. Faber and Kent Ridge. Anyway, it has a really nice, curvy design that will be fun to cycle/ skate across. I had little time left, therefore I didn't cross the first section of the bridge completely. Next time I will definitely cycle/ skate across this funny bridge.

After trekking down the Marang Trail again, I went to Vivo City. As I didn't have much time left (I need to pack my things, and it's already 7pm. I need to sleep at 9-10pm), I only explored B2. Therefore, I still haven't explored Vivo City... Anyway, when I went home by the MRT, the train overshot Toa Payoh MRT Station! It tried to brake, but half of the train was already past the station. The driver had to ask the people to alight at Braddell MRT Station and take a train in the opposite direction. This is the first time I saw so many people in Braddell MRT Station, so it is fun to watch.

Notes:
- Henderson Waves has walls that curve like half-pipes. Definitely fun to play there. - A pity the bridge had wooden planks for the floor and walls, so there are little gaps to make the bridge a bit bumpy for anyone on wheels.
- The "Giant Hypermarket" at Vivo City was selling a litre of "housebrand" juice for 99 cents! So cheap.
- The train that overshot the station made me forget that I needed to buy swimming goggles. I wanted to buy it at Toa Payoh Centre, but when the train reached Braddell, I forgot about the goggles. Now I have to learn how to swim while blinded...

Run on Ice

On Wednesday, I went skating again. Now I can go at a pretty fast speed, but I still can't match those who have perfect form. They can overtake me easily if they want to, and they seem to use less effort to match my speed. A pity I will be going NS soon and can't practice more.

It was a pretty scary day, as I had to avoid a relatively high number of people skating against the traffic. I fell quite a few times while avoiding them. However I managed to hop a small distance + never fall to avoid one guy. Fun!

Yoguruthing joined me at 6pm. He said that he slept only at 1pm, the time that I started to skate that day. Wah! I also found out on that day that he has had 14-15 ex. before. Double Wah! What a colourful life. I never would have thought of it as he seemed like a pretty dedicated guy. Due to his experience, he can estimate a person's age by looking at the neck. I must try looking around too.

Notes:
- There are lots of pretty girls on the rink.
- There are lots of couples on the rink too.
- At on time, about 90% of the ice was covered with a thick layer of water. Anyone falling (I fell twice, LOTS of other people fell too) would be drenched as if he fell into a pond.
- Talking about falling, a relatively high number "pro-er" people fell down on that day. It might be the water, or they might be trying new moves. But I've never seen them fall on other occasions.

Up a Mountain, Down on Ice

Today I was feeling bored as Yoguruthing didn't arrange a skating trip. Therefore, I headed to Jurong's rink on my own. When I reached there at 4.30pm, it was so crowded they put up a sign saying that size 7, 7.5 and 8 skates were unavailable. I thought I had no skates to play with, so I went back out to Jurong East Bus Interchange.

There, I saw a Bus 143 that can take me home (and I've never boarded it despite it terminating at Toa Payoh Bus Interchange for as long as I can remember), so I hopped on. It looped around an old estate, passing by Haw Par Villa (I must go there soon, it's free admission, and I think it might not be around for much longer), and reached Harbourfront.

As it is nearing Harbourfront, I saw a few "Mt Faber" signs. I thought "since going home is like, wasting time and money, why not go up Mt Faber? I've never been up Mt Faber before". Therefore, I alighted at Harbourfront and went up Mt Faber (NEW!).

I back-tracked some distance to where I 1st saw a sign, and went up through a windy road. Eventually, I reached Mt Faber Park. Following the big park map, I made my way up to the summit. The view along the way was splendid. On top, while I was exploring the various murals, Yoguruthing called me saying he was skating (Wah! I thought no shoes). I thought it would be a waste if I brought along gloves and socks but didn't even skate (I am also going into army really soon), so I said I would join him.

I then made my way down Mt Faber at a really fast pace (for slippers). I hiked through the "Marang Trail", which was a direct way down from Mt Faber (the raod I went up was the long way) and ended up right at an entrance of Harbourfront MRT Station... Anyway I took the MRT and met up with Yoguruthing at Jurong. It's 7.30pm when I reached Jurong East, and I skated all the way until closing time at 10pm. After that, I went home.

Notes:
- I should visit Haw Par Villa someday.
- I should go up Mt Faber again. There are some parts that I haven't explored, like the cable car station.
- The view at Mt Faber is good, go and see it yourself.
- I should have gone into the rink 1st, as Yoguruthing said there wasn't any sign when he entered at 5pm.
- I used almost $6 to travel around...
- For all you guys that are wondering, SiSi didn't come today. A pity.

Falling Apart

I've heard about 2 breakups this month - Law & Rac, Yoguruthing & Ms Yoguruthing. Yoguruthing's breakup might have happened a long time ago because I've not heard from him until recently. Law's breakup, I found out only on yesterday. Kind of sad, don't you think? I hope they can recover soon.

I've heard from someone that "it isn't easy to maintain a relationship before/ during NS". I think it isn't true, but I have no experience yet. What do you think?

Yoguruthing's Link & Rink

Yesterday, I went ice-skating with Yoguruthing again. This time though, Yoguruthing's god-sister Si Si (SiSi) was there too. She's 19, shorter than me, cute and very close to Yoguruthing (Too bad I don't have a camera). In fact, if Yoguruthing did not say that SiSi was his god-sister, everyone (including me) would see them as a couple (The actual situation might be different. I didn't ask too much about it).

Anyway, I have improved my ice-skating skills, and can now speed around a little (though I can't slide at a slow speed. A bit like riding a bicycle - Real pros can ride at a speed slower than walking). However, to get to this level, I fell quite a few more times. The falls that I suffered this time round are more serious. Let's recall some of them.

- During the 1st fall I landed on both of my hands. This fall started the chain of injury later on.
- I fell and landed on my left hand again. Pain, but still ok.
- Got one Caucasian woman grabbed my waist as she thought I was going to fall. I was pretty stunned and landed hard. Though I don't recall landing on any particular part except my butt, my left wrist felt some "real" pain. Apparently I've twisted my wrist, as there wasn't any swelling.
- Felling and landed on my left hand, again. Felt some "real" pain, again. I think I might have also busted a few blood vessels in my palm. There's now an area of regularly arranged red spots on my palm, and they are not disappearing any time soon.
Also, during this fall, I landed hard on the inner side of my knees, and there's now a patch of bruise on both my knees (Notice I said a patch, not a spot).

Despite all these falls, I still think ice-skating is really fun. This is especially true after seeing the regulars of the rink speeding around again. Also, there was a few really pro people today. The pro females seemed to be flying around the rink, while the pro males are spinning and speeding like no tomorrow. All these sights really inspired me to reach at least Yoguruthing's level.

Oh yeah, about SiSi. Apparently she started to skate like a year ago. It SEEMS like her level is below mine, but she doesn't fall down nearly as often as me. During our 6? hours together, she fell only once. She doesn't seem to dare challenge a higher speed, however her movements are really fluid and natural. I think if she can get past her mental speed limit, she can start to fly and flutter like those pro females in no time.

After a 6-7 hour ice-skating session, we 3 went straight to K-Box to sing for another 5 hours, until 3am (I forgot who pitched this crazy idea after we left the rink). I've never sung this many songs in front of another person before. After all, this is my 2nd time singing karaoke. SiSi has a really nice voice, and great singing skills. At 3am, we took a taxi to Yoguruthing's house at Bukit Batok West to rest, then SiSi and me left at around 11pm. I went home, while SiSi was meeting her friends for another round of karaoke! Powerful!

Notes:
- Right now, my left hand is still painful if I twist or exert it too much. Oh well, time to train my "one arm" pull-up.
- The "resurfacing" machine in the rink seemed to be powered by natural gas. When it is operating, the funny smell of the machine's exhaust can be detected across the rink.
- When the resurfacing at 4pm was finished, I stepped out onto the rink and immediately fell. The resurfaced ice was so smooth that you can see the reflection of the lights above. How does it work? Check out this article.
- I didn't eat dinner, so I bought duck rice at a Teochew restaurant very close to Yoguruthing's house. In fact, Yoguruthing's house is one of the closest house to the restaurant. The fact that I can buy duck rice at 4am means that the restaurant is doing VERY well. They give out pretty big servings too. However, I like my duck rice's rice to be a bit more salty.
- Yoguruthing lives in a BIG 4 room flat on the first floor. It is big because it is old, a 20+ years flat. Also, they don't have as much stuff to clutter up the house, unlike mine, which is filled with my parent's junk.
- I like girls that are short, somewhat cute and have a nice voice. I wonder why I am typing this...
- Do I stand a chance with SiSi? That depends on whether I will meet her again, as I didn't ask for her number. Why I am typing this? Hmmm... I hope Yoguruthing doesn't see this remark.

Glide on Solid

Today, I went ice-skating with Yoguruthing (Waseh NEW! ah). I've got no gloves and socks, so he brought extra (Thanks). We met up at 1pm in Jurong East MRT Station. After that, we had lunch at Jurong Entertainment Centre.

After lunch, he took me up to the rink. It is at the 3rd floor of Jurong Entertainment Centre (Wah! Why Toa Payoh Entertainment Centre no such facilities? Why???). We paid and went in ($17.30/2hrs for me, $11.XX/unlimited for Yoguruthing as he is holding a student pass. I should have made one too). We got our shoes and geared up to go (to where? Write until like very pro like that...). We started at 2pm.

On the ice, I am like a 1 year old baby; keep stumbling. I watched how other people skate, Yoguruthing gave me some tips, and I tried my best. For now, I still can't skate smoothly, but I can somewhat move on the ice without falling every minute (Note! Falling, not stumbling). My skating skills isn't really interesting to write about for now, so I will talk about the place.

- The place actually looks kind of old. However, I guess all public places that deal with lots of water (e.g. swimming complex, skating rink), and cannot hire people to clean every inch of the place everyday, have that kind of aura.
- There were not many people skating, and a small class was in session. However, The seats outside the rink were constantly refilled with people looking at the skaters/ resting (Free aircon/ show?).
- It seemed like a nice place to go for group outing/ date/ wedding proposal/ stress and boredom relief. I wonder why some of Yoguruthing's friends would dislike ice-skating (Price? I would agree it is quite an expensive activity. I wonder what my other friends think. Must ask!).
- Apparently, most of the people visiting the rink today are regulars according to Yoguruthing. He is one of them too.
- Singapore Sports School booked the whole place for their students to play around, so we left at 4pm.

After ice-skating, we went to play some pool at the nearby shop. Yoguruthing treated me to it as he thought it was quite expensive for me to skate (Thanks). This is my second time playing pool (though the first time I played, it wasn't really a "real" session, so NEW!). We played 4 games (I lost all, naturally), then we set off for home at around 5.30pm.

Notes:
- Naturally, I fell quite a lot of times while on the ice. I remember 2 of the falls. One of them was when I fell and landed looking like the Sleeping Buddha. The other was when I fell and sat on my hands. That was also the most painful fall.
- My ankles keep bending sideways. It is like I can't stand on the blades like I should be doing. Of course, bending your ankles sideways is painful, and it slows down my learning. Also, my left leg is as lazy as a log. When it is not lazy, my right leg starts to slack...
- There was a few cute girls on the rink.
- I really should ask my friends about their opinion on ice-skating as an outing.
- There is a huge difference between playing pool, and watching people play pool/ play computer pool.
- The pool table is a really great invention. Doesn't use electricity, and provide as much fun as computer games (for me, for now). Group activity. Also train your analytic skills. I will definitely put a pool table in my house.

Walking to National Day

This evening, I walked to Marina Bay again. I wanted to watch the fireworks of the National Day Parade 2008, so I set off from home at 5.30pm.

It was raining, so there wasn't much people on the route. However, a few people were running on the Park Connector near my house. Also, a girl was enjoying being drenched by the heavy rain on a bridge near Moonstone Lane. There were also a few cats hiding and meowing under stone benches, and a few groups of people hiding under various bridges to chat/ hide from rain/ fish.

Rain does not make my journey enjoyable if I am wearing slippers. The water + sand + walking combination can really get under your skin, and before I even reached the crossing at Boon Keng Road, I had already worn off some skin from the sides of my feet. My right foot had an especially big patch of skin that was worn off...

This time round, when I reached the intersection at Lavender MRT Station, I went in the direction of Bugis, along Kallang Road and Victoria Street. I passed by streets with funny name, such as Jalan Pisang. I then turned into Arab Street, then North Bridge Road, then Ophir Road, then Beach Road. I then went up Rochor Flyover to Suntec City. I weaved through Suntec City and went to Millenia Walk. Feeling a bit lost as the view was still blocked by various buildings, I followed the crowd to the Singapore Flyer. This time though, I went right up beside the big wheel, at the empty pavement outside the building.

Wah the fireworks are nice, however there was such a crowd that I can only view the fireworks with a palm right in between me and the area of the sky where the fireworks exploded. I must admit, it is actually quite beautiful to see the fireworks with a shadow of a palm's leaves imposed on it. A splendid blend of wood and fire.

I then walked to City Hall MRT Station like last time. However, there was so much people that a human jam actually formed in Marina Square, at the area where the "Lee Hwa" Booth is located. The solution? Go up to the 2nd floor first and bypass the jam. When I went up to the 2nd floor and looked down, it was pretty funny to see a whole crowd of people wanting to walk one direction, while another crowd wanting to walk in the other direction. The result? Nobody can go through...

There were a lot of people at the bridge that led to Marina Square and at Citylink Mall too, but most of the people were moving in one direction, so even though it was slow, at least we were moving. When I finally reached the crowded City Hall MRT Station, I caught a train and went home.

Notes:
- The girl that was running and the girl on the bridge looked pretty secksay in the rain. I guess if the girl isn't too round, all of them will look pretty secksay in the rain.
- It's better to watch stuff in real life than on TV. TV stuff seem to have something tinted over the image. The area outside Singapore Flyer had a large screen showing the NDP @ Marina Bay, so I can compare.
- The crowd doesn't seem to care about the fact that the National Anthem is playing, and kept moving about.
- I had an umbrella, but without rain, it just gets in the way. I also accidentally poked a few guys in the leg with it.

Walkabout 2

As I was feeling bored today, I went out and walked to Marina Bay, from my house at Toa Payoh Lorong 8. I wanted to just go out and relax my mind, but ended up stressing my body : )

I started from the section of Kallang Park Connector closest to my house at 4.45pm. I just followed the Park Connector, towards Potong Pasir. Walked under an expressway, past St. Andrew's Junior College, crossed over another expressway and fumbled my way inside a private housing area. After I found the next section of Kallang Park Connector, I continued along it and ended up at Kallang.

After reaching Kallang, I traversed along the scenic waterfront and through an industrial area (still part of Kallang Park Connector). When I reached Kallang MRT Station, I turned right along the next major road. I originally planned to follow the road (and the underground MRT track) to Bugis MRT Station, but decided to walk to the City Area when I reached Lavender MRT Station. Apparently, a road sign, a helicopter and a parachuter had influenced my decision. Amazing!

I continued to walk, with the Singapore Flyer as my target because it was big enough to be seen. Also, I've never been near it before. I continued alongside roads, with one stretch so new and empty that 2 Bangladeshi guys cycled against the traffic on the road (though there was no traffic to go against). It seems that road led to a road closed for NDP, so no one was on it. Past that stretch, I found another park, and walked to it.

The park is called Marina Promenade, and that park is right beside a river. I followed the path in it, past a "Ducktours splash point" and ended up under the Benjamin Sheares Bridge (Wah! NEW!). Sadly, it led to a dead end. The F1 tracks are being constructed right beside the path, so I can see the "real" version of the models I saw in the F1 simulator. It's around 6.25pm now, and I wanted to go to the city, so that I can catch a train home for dinner. Therefore I back-tracked toward a road I saw beside the park.

The road is the new road constructed for the F1 race, and half of it was closed. I crossed it, and turned right. It was a dead end too, as it led up to a footpath along the Benjamin Sheares Bridge. Therefore I back-tracked again, and followed the new road to the Singapore Flyer... Haiz, when I ended up at the dead end at Marina Promenade, I am very close to the Singapore Flyer, but had no means of reaching it unless I crossed the grass and into the construction site. After so much trouble, I am back at the same area, only on the other side of it...

Anyway, I kept following the road and ended up at Millenia Walk. Finally, a building! From Millenia Walk, I proceeded to Marina Square, then to Citylink Mall, then to City Hall MRT Station. Finally sat down for 5 minutes while waiting for the train, then took a train (standing) back to Toa Payoh MRT Station where I caught a bus home (still standing). Got back for dinner at 8.25pm.

Notes:
- When I first started along the Kallang Park Connector, I measured that I took 1 minute 11 seconds to cover 100m with my leisurely walking speed. That is a measly 5 5/71 km/h, or around 5.02 km/h.
- Assuming I walked with a constant speed (impossible, but I tried), I've walked 8 2/71 km, or around 8.03 km to reach Benjamin Sheares Bridge.
- The private housing area that I went through is a nice area to live in.
- The waterfront at Kallang is really beautiful.
- I had to cross several fast roads during the journey, which must have irritated the drivers because I needed to use the traffic lights.
- Along that ulu stretch of road was a couple. Must have been creepy for the couple as I don't think they'll expect anyone to follow them along the road. At least I increased my speed to walk past you 2 as soon as possible OK!
- It is a really bad idea for a pedestrian to try and walk from Marina Promenade to the City Area (e.g. Millenia Walk) as the roads are a bit confusing and definitely winding.
- The Asiasoft Gamefest was on at Marina Square Central Atrium. Looks kind of strange, but there was quite a crowd.
- I think Kallang River might be a good place in the future if you're looking for a quiet time fishing or just enjoying nature. This is especially true for the Kallang waterfront area, but other areas (e.g. just outside St. Andrew's Junior College) are good too. Come! I can walk there to meet you all!

Holy Matrimony 1

Today I attended my cousin's wedding (Mother side sibling's daughter, or Biao Jie). It is held at Victory Family Centre (at Sembawang). This is the 1st time I attended a church wedding, so it is really NEW! Only Mother and I went for the wedding (in our family).

Victory Family Centre wasn't what I expected of a church. I imagined it to be like "white walls with intricate carving". Instead it looks more like a community centre. Anyway, we went in and sat down to wait for the ceremony to start.

After the ceremony was officially started, a pastor started to preach and also gave advice for the husband-to-be. After that, the "ring boy" and "flower girls" walked in, followed by the bride. Before the exchange of vows, they sang about how much they love God (though I didn't. If you really love someone, that someone should know how much you love him/ her without you saying anything). After that, came the exchange of vows/ rings. After that, there was something called a "communion" for the couple (if I am wrong about the term, correct me). It seems like the couple talked to the person who directed the wedding (in this case, the pastor's wife). After that, they seem to both drink some red liquid (wine?). Seems like something to do with their religion.

Lots of seemingly important people went up on stage to pray for the couple in what looks like a "super prayer". The couple then thanked everybody. After that, it was over and up next was the photo-taking session (I think I missed out some stuff, and might have messed up the order of things, but never mind). We then proceeded to the buffet reception at the carpark! below the Family Centre. After the whole thing was over, we went home in my uncle's truck (Mother's youngest brother, or Xiao Jiu).

Jude Tan & Chiam Jia Jing, I hope you are happy.

Notes on the Event:
- It wasn't what I expected, really. I expected something like in TV, where the bride and groom run out of the church into a convertable and drive off. Probably this is more for the believers. The TV version might be for those non-believers who wants something special.
- I wonder why they turned the volume to the max when they sang about God. I bet God doesn't want anyone to have damaged ears when they leave the church.
- The weather suddenly turned bad when the ceremony ended. A sign?

Notes on the journey home:
- I went home in a truck (A "real", cargo handling truck. NEW!) with a few of my relatives.
- The front of the truck can only seat 3 person, including the driver. Therefore, all others are placed in the back.
- When you enter the back, it seems like you are entering a cargo train as it has no windows, tall roof, dark + damp, and with wood everywhere as padding. The door wasn't closed completely to allow some light and air in.
- Now I know how those illegal immigrants feel when they travel by cargo train.

Notes on religion:
- I think religion should be a set of guidelines on how to be more than beast, to be "human". Therefore, I assimilate all the good/ sensible points of every religion into what I believe in.
- I think there are a few possible scenarios on the "truth" of religion:
- There is no higher power, and we imagined a higher power because we need somebody to support our beliefs.
- There is a higher power, but no single religion can describe it completely. In other words, the higher power made every religion because different cultures interpreted the higher power differently.
- There are many Gods as described in the different religions, each trying to convert everyone in the world to believe in him/ her. Something like Black & White.
- There are many Gods as described in the different religions, and they are discussing how to save humankind, and not let eliminate one another because of religion. A bit like a board meeting where the participants are God (Christianity), Allah, Jade Emperor, Buddha, Ishvara, Zeus etc.
- In any case, all the "orthodox" religions advocate how to be a good person. I don't understand how anyone can kill others for their religion.

Hidden Room

On Sunday, I attended Law's "surprise" birthday party (Attending a surprise party is NEW! for me). It is held at a cafe called "(insert name when I find out what it is)" at AMK Hub. I didn't know when and where it was held until Bing called me at 2.57pm to ask if I am there already. Apparently they were supposed to meet at AMK Hub at 3pm, but nobody informed me : ) I just quickly took the MRT and arrived as soon as possible.

Anyway, the cafe is quite unique, as it seemed small at first. I didn't understand why Bing asked me to go in when they didn't seem to be in there. When I went in, I felt quite stupid until I thought I heard someone calling me. Turns out there was a hidden room behind a wall, and the room is actually pretty big. Almost the size of the cafe outside. There's also a screen, a projector and a sound system. How much to book the room? I have no idea.

Inside, there were various groups of Law's friends.

- Secondary School Friends which consisted of Bing, An, Kok and me.
- Army Friends. Quite a few of them.
- Rachel's Group which is made up of Mei Ping and Shi Hui.
- 2 other friend, which I recognise as those who worked at Morris with Law (and me for 2 weeks). I still remember their names, Shi Yun and Kenneth. They don't seem to remember me. I am pretty forgettable, it seems.

When Law was finally brought into the room by Rachel, he didn't seem as surprised we thought he'll be. Apparently he saw me as he was waiting for Rachel, so he got suspicious? I dunno. Anyway, they got a mango cake for him, and we proceeded with the celebrations. I ate a piece of the cake. Personally, I am not supposed to eat mango as I will get "heaty" and fall sick almost immediately. I also don't really like mango or cake. (Notice I said "don't really like", not hate. I am still ok with them if I can't avoid eating them)

After that they/ we played some games. Time passes very quickly when you are not aware of it, so suddenly, it was 8pm. Strangely, the cafe workers didn't try to chase us away when the time limit was up at 8pm. We left on our own to walk around a bit in AMK Hub, then I went home in Bing's van.

Notes:
- One of the cafe workers is a cute girl. One of the "forfeits" in a game they played was to give a piece of cake to that cute girl. Sadly, the guy who got the "forfeit" wasted the chance by admitting it was a dare.
- Of course, the girl is smart enough to guess it 1st, then the guy admitted. Haiz, he should have used the question to start a conversation. However, if I got the "forfeit", I might not have the balls to do this. I really don't know.
- They had other food for the party. It tasted ok, maybe even good for me, but it seems "not that ok" for the others.
- I hadn't seen Kok for quite a while. It's nice to meet him again.
- Nobody hit Law (except for Mei Ping and Rachel), however he was tickled for 30 seconds. I think that is even worse than getting mobbed, unless you're getting pummelled by the 100+ guys in the whole Sec 4 cohort. Remember Gao Rui?
- Law and Rachel used about $30 to "buy" a soft toy (plus a whole bag of sweets) after the party at some sort of arcade machine. The price might be worth the toy, but it took more than half an hour, and you have a whole bag of unhealthy sweets! Entertainment certainly comes at a price, or just takes time : )

Asking for the Moon

I am so disappointed with myself.

Today I went for the interview for the Fire & Rescue Specialist (FRS) job I was applying for. The 1st thing I'll did there was to try a "Real Job Preview". I'll need to go through a series of physical tests to assess whether I am suitable for the job. I gave up after the 1st test.

I am supposed to run around the block while in "almost full" fire-fighting gear. That mean the heavy clothing, helmet, boots, gloves and something that looks like an air tank. That air tank alone weighs 15kg. After I ran around with it, I feel like I've just completed a 2.4km run. The actual distance I ran was like only 400m. Totally cannot catch my breath. Sian, I should have researched what they need to wear. The tank is about 30% of my weight. Therefore, I dropped out of the competition.

Time to reconsider my options and my path ahead.

Notes:
- For more embarrassing details, ask me. I'll tell you, albeit in a depressing tone.

The Life Saving Force

This morning, I went for a "Simulation Test" at Singapore Civil Defence Force Headquarters (SCDF HQ). It is like a selection test, but instead of asking you things or answering questions, they make you role play as a Fire & Rescue Specialist (FRS) (Fireman) (Fire-fighter).

You are then put into 3 different scenarios and you must react accordingly to the situation. An assessor is in the background, looking at how you interact with their role-players. I played a FRS with a superior and 3 subordinates, and I had to deal with these...

- Feedback session with superior
- Colleague who accidentally caused a man's death and is depressed
- 2 subordinates who are not interested in the particular task they are given

It was a unique experience as I haven't dealt with several of these situations before. Now I know how I will react to these kinds of situations.

Notes:
- The SCDF HQ is located in an Industrial Estate. Pretty strange if you ask me.
- The SCDF HQ is very tall compared to the buildings around the area. It also look more modern.
- They are building a Circle Line MRT Station near it. The station is called "Tai Seng". I wonder what kind of person "Tai Seng" was to have a road named after him.
- They keep your IC in exchange for a pass to let you walk inside the compound. Remind me of the LAN shops I used to go last time where you exchange your identification for a keyring.
- There were 5 other contestants in my round of Simulation. 3 Malay, 1 Chinese & 1 Indian?
- If I pass this "Simulation", then I will be called for an interview. After I clear the interview, THEN I can become a FRS.

Graduate...

Today is my graduation ceremony. It is, content-wise, one of the most boring things I've ever attended. However, the things other graduates did are pretty interesting.

I reached the gathering area at 11am, change into the graduation gown and wait till 12, entered the auditorium at 12.30pm, listened to the "big-shots" speak from 1pm, and start to look at the graduates (including me) go up to the stage to take their "diploma" after 1.45pm. See, isn't it boring? However the graduates did some funny things like hugging the Guest of Honour, cheering for random people etc.

After the ceremony, I collected my real diploma from LT-S1 and proceed to the reception. After that, I went home.

Notes:
- I nearly can't get up on stage due to my old shoes. Luckily got Eric Tan help me negotiate.
- I declined an invitation to go out with Larry, Vinod, Edmund Shi, Amos etc. (Ya that group) for no reason. Might be due to the things I have to carry around if I go out with them.

1/10000

Yesterday, I struck my 1st ever 4D (Also my 1st ever win at Singapore Pools. NEW!). Funny! The number I've bought is 6349, and it won a starter prize. Won $250. I've got no idea how to use it though.

Notes:
- I generated the number from my calculator's "RANDOM" function. It churns out a number between 0 and 1, up to 3 decimal places. The function I used to make a 4 digit number is "f(x)= 10000(RANDOM) - 1".
- That calculator is pretty dear to me as it stood by me since Sec 1.
- Hey! As I think about it, I suddenly realised I can't possibly generate all the possible numbers of 4D with that calculator as "10000 X 0.xyz - 1 = xyz9".
- I know what I'll do with the money if I win big at Toto. I will donate at least $10,000 to "Singapore Buddhist Lodge" because it gave out bursaries to help me tackle my 14 years of schooling. The total amount of money given to me throughout these 14 years is less than $5000, but it sure helped.
- However, I don't know what to do with the rest of the money yet.

Walkabout

Yesterday, I went out for Larry's birthday celebration. I didn't know that until halfway through the day.

I went to Chinatown MRT at 1.30pm as Larry invited me for karaoke (Never been to Chinatown before. NEW!). I met up with Kai Siang, Hong Wee, Edwin (Chan) and Pixie?. We then proceed to the obscure shop, dunno what Ten Dollars Family Club or something like that. It only has a small sign hanging out and the sign is on the third floor, so its kind of hard to see.

When we finally found the place and went up, Larry arrived. After settling down we began to sing (I've never actually sang karaoke before. Went before - Yes, Sing - No. NEW!). After a while, Vinod arrived. About 1/2 hour before our time slot ended, Edmund (Shi) arrived after work. After we left the seedy little place, we walked to this place called "central ©" (Hey you can't blame me for being sua gu. I need to explore more. Anyway, I've never been here, and it is right on top of Clarke Quay MRT. NEW!). It is a pretty artistic looking shopping centre.

We went to this restaurant called "Marutama Ramen" (O.o Eat ramen. NEW!). It is an extremely "jap" looking ramen shop where even the waitress communicate with the cook via Japanese. Whether if they are acting I don't know, but I am sure that if a Japanese came here, he would have no problems ordering food. Anyway, I just ordered a "Marutama Ramen" (Ramen in Chicken soup)without any toppings ($12), and with 1 "kaedama" (ramen refill, $1). As we waited for our order to come, Edmund (Ho) came and joined us for dinner. After dinner Vinod's friend Daniel came and joined us. We bought vodka from Liang Court, from a supermarket called "Meidi-Ya" (O.o a Japanese goods supermarket. NEW!), then proceeded to Larry's house (I can't figure out why they all want to go to Larry's house. They spent quite sometime psycho-ing Larry to let the group go to his house. Anyway, NEW!).

Larry's house is a two-storey flat. I can't remember what is the term for that kind of flat. Anyway, we played some Indian Poker, and Larry is a bit drunk from almost everyone trying to make him drink. After an unsuccessful attempt for some of us to play Texas Poker (They get bored of gambling easily), I went to the balcony to listen to some gossips. After that, we left Larry's house at 2.15am to return home.

Since I already used quite a bit of money during the day, I opted to walk home (I've never walked home at a time where buses has stopped their services. I don't think anyone else would even consider this as an option though. NEW!). Larry's house is located deep inside the Kovan area, so I proceed to walk out of the estate towards a major road, Upper Serangoon Road. I then walked along Upper Serangoon Road, turning into Braddell Road. Afer that I followed Braddell Road to my home at Toa Payoh Lorong 8. Simple, huh? It took me only 1 hour and 5 minutes, including my journey up the lift and locking the door behind me (2.15am - 3.20am), which means the actual walk took only around 50 minutes to complete. Easy.

Notes:
- The dunno what Ten Dollars Family Club is really good value. Its a bit obscure though.
- I only sing Mandarin songs.
- The new "Dragon Generation" is really crazy. They gave a sex toy to Larry as his birthday present. There's like, a hole where you can use your "thing" to "poke" through it. Refer to this blog entry for more of my comments about the new "Dragon Generation".
- Oh ya, they gave 2 "women upper undergarments" to him also. Supposedly it was Pixie? who came up with the idea for Larry's presents.
- Chinatown is really a colourful and interesting place. Wonder if I can buy and live in a shophouse.
- The layout of central © is really confusing. I'll need to visit it more often if I ever want to figure it out. I suppose the strange layout adds to the aesthetic aspect of the entire building.
- Though I enjoyed the ramen, I still can't get over the price : ) After tax its $15-$16, which is harsh for my current finances. Also, I am still not used to eating food that cost more than $4 : )
- By the way, I don't know when my body will start rejecting the chicken soup. I just can't eat food cooked in chicken soup for some reason.
- Its a really good experience to walk home from somewhere far alone, late into the night. There are few cars and you'd wonder if any robbers or snakes will attack you suddenly. If you are a girl though, I won't recommend it. Women are targeted more often than men, so walking home alone late at night along empty roads might not be such a good idea.
- If you think walking from Kovan to Toa Payoh is hell, it's acutally only around 4.5 - 5km if you followed my route.

Final Cut

Today is an interesting day. At around 2.30pm, a guy came knocking on our door. He said he is from SP Services, and because we didn't pay our utilities bill for 3 months, he will have to cut off our electricity supply. O.o

After he cut off our supplies, he left. Luckily, I managed to "psycho" my mother to fork out $562.75 to pay the bill. I then made my way to the Post Office to pay up, then called the Customer Service Centre of SP Services to reconnect the supplies. At around 4.45pm, the power came back on : )

Notes:
- I didn't know Dage didn't pay the bills... Idiot. (Dage is the one who pay the utility bill)
- I took quite some time to "psycho" Mother to pay 1st... (She too stingy la)
- It was raining really hard when I went out to pay up. (It is still raining hard now)

Deafen & Drunken

After Fusion, I went out with Larry, Vinod, Edmund (Shi), Kai Siang, Amos, Ken Yang, Hong Wee, Edwin (Chan) and his girlfriend (If I remember correctly, she call herself 'Pixie').

Went to Seoul Garden @ Bugis to eat because Edmund's family was eating there, so can help us book seats (Ooo, never been to Seoul Garden to eat before. NEW!). Ate and talk while eating.

After eating, they finally decided to go clubbing at Zouk (never clubbed before. NEW!). Took a taxi there. There was free admission that night. We went in and took a chop, then went out to drink 1st. Went to a coffee shop (Chinese one) for some beers, and just talk. At about 10.45pm, we went in to Zouk.

We went to this club called "Phuture", and the 1st person I saw inside was Bing! He just appeared out from the darkness. Funny. He immediately treated me to drinks. I think he high already. As I already drank some before coming in, with the additional drinks added by Bing, I became dizzy and can't stop moving. Therefore I began, for the first time in my life (NEW!), dancing in front of other people. Due to the effects of alcohol on my body, I didn't really care about my self-image, and began to target girls : ) A few danced with me for a few minutes, but nothing really significant happened.

At around 2am, we came out and went to another coffee shop (Prata one) to rest abit before taking taxi home. How much did I spend? Admission: Free, Beer: $2.90, Other Drinks: Bing and Vinod treat me, Taxi: I dunno yet. around $6? So yeah, I clubbed for less than $10.

Notes
- I am still deafened from the extremely loud music in the club.
- I liked the ability to hear properly. Now I am deafened. So depressing : (
- I didn't go bua any girls, nor did any girls bua me. Sian.
- There was too many males in there that night. Bing, Vinod, Edmund and Kai Siang all commented on this. Its not normal, they say.
- The people that never clubbed before this are Me, Ken Yang, Hong Wee & Larry. That leaves Vinod, Edmund, Amos, Kai Siang and Edwin. Pixie I dunno.
- Amos didn't bring any identification with him, so he went home after we drank at the coffee shop. Funny why need to check identification if you look old enough...

Polymerization

I went to Fusion 2008 from Thursday to Saturday. It's kind of like a graduation show for SIDM. The students showcase their works to the public and the companies that employ these new graduates. I am one of the students in the show.

On Wednesday morning, I went to set up my booth. Collected the $60 poster and pasted it at my booth. Beside my booth was Edwin Liew's booth. Beside him was Fiona's booth. Our people (the people that have their booth inside my area) set up their booths, and tested their equipments.

On Thursday and Friday, it was pretty sian as most people don't come to the Games Design area. They will stop at the Animation side 1st as it was at the entrance, then maybe go to the Interactive Media area, but that is all. The people that came to the Games Design & Digital Flim & Video (DFV) area are those that are attracted to the Singapore F1 Racing Simulator our DET pals have created. So yeah, it was boring. Further more, the companies employ mostly females in this show as most of the males have not completed NS. Therefore, even the better males in our batch feel like they are just here "for show".

Saturday, there were few people, but it was more interesting as everyone was taking photo, talking and playing. It's the last day, so everyone just want to have some fun. They might not meet each other again : )

At around 3pm, the show's over.

Notes:
- The show runs from 11am-9pm on weekdays, and 10am-3pm on weekends.
- There are no chairs, and we aren't supposed to sit on the floors. Imagine how long we have to stand for...
- I played a pretty interesting "Werewolf" card game with lots of other people.
