The Biggest Pit

On Friday, I went for a BBQ with all my Air Force mates. It was at East Coast Park, and it was kind of good actually. The BBQ pit was one of the biggest I've ever seen, and there was a nice round moon to decorate the sea view. The food was also not bad. In all, I had a great time : )

BBQ Interrupted

On Friday, I went for Law's 22nd B'day chalet. Bing, An, Law, Auntie Karen and I met around noon to buy all the food, then brought it back to Law's house before we took a ride to Downtown East. For the 1st time in my life, I didn't notice the unit no. of the chalet. Well, there was nothing to do, so we mahjong-ed and tai-ti-ed all the way till evening. After that we had dinner and we also loitered around till sleeping time.

Next morning, we went to have breakfast. There was this Cosplay event, and we had breakfast with red-haired people, blond-haired people, and white-haired people. Anyway, while we were looking for lunch, An went to find his new "friend", Law's cousin Seok Xian. After lunch, Bing, Law and I went bowling. 3nd time bowling, and I think I will break my wrist before I break 100 points. But quite fun, you can just sit there and watch too.

The barbecue has started. In addition to the 4 of us, there was Law's mum and dad and aunt and bro and sister-in-law, Seok Xian's group of 4 and Law's 2 army friend. However, the 2 army friends left even before the fire started. Too bad. After the fire was started, we started to cook too. However, before long, the sky started to weep, and our nice fire was drowned in tears. Unfazed, we started another fire with our remaining charcoal. Ironically, the heavens was so depressed that it wept again on our cute fire again, with added intensity. There wasn't any fuel left for us to burn, and so our barbecue was finished with around 2/5 of the food left uncooked. Too bad.

The An's new "friend"'s group stayed around a bit longer than Law's close ones. However, the heavens didn't want them to go home, so it cried for them to stay. We didn't have an umbrella with us, so the group stayed around for another hour or so. It was pretty strange, really. The 4 of us slept after a bit of arcade action.

We checked out the next morning and went home.

Clash of the Stripeys

Yesterday morning, I went to Sentosa! Yeah! You have no idea how much I like to go out like this. My group consists of Russell, Jansen, Daniel, Roy, Hock Wei, Lorenzo, Wai Yiu and Zhao. We headed to Sentosa at around 11am.

Sentosa is bustling with people wanting to burn their bodies. We saw so many people tanning and playing on the hot sand. Of course, we went and started burning our bodies too. We went to Siloso Beach, where there was an event going on. There we found another group of Zhi Bin, Menon, Dave, Ashleyna of the Twins, another girl who looked a bit like Ashleyna but isn't Angelina (actually the twins' sister Faith), and Oh. O.o We joined up with their pile-up of bags.

Things we played: The usual Volleyball, Frisbee, Monkey, Jump into the Sea games. Usual? Boring? I like. And you cannot stop me going crazy on the beach :D I didn't even have lunch and I didn't feel hungry until past dinner time. I think the beach (and everyone that was around me) has a therapeutic effect on me. Ha!

Roy's girlfriend and her friend were there too. They played with us for quite some time, and after we started to bath and leave at around 6pm, they left to meet their friend on Palawan Beach. Busy people. Those 2 are the crazy ones. Matthew and his girlfriend came a bit later in the afternoon too. So we have lots of people in the combined group! Up!

We left the beach at 6pm, and reached the mainland at around 7.30pm. From there, I went home directly. The second group left a bit earlier than us in their cars.

Notes: You found me!
- Why is the sun in Tekong so friendly. You can stay in the sun for dunno how many hours and you won't get sunburned. Maybe its in the sand.
- Sea water is salty.
- Air filled balls cannot skid on water like pebbles. They tend to stick to it.
- Volleyball is quite fun.
- Frisbees are easy to catch, difficult to throw.
- Finally, some (+15) spam. Don't you like spam?

Shooting People

Recently, my life has been quite structured. Every weekday, I will be at school, studying. During weekends, either I don't go out, or I go "swim" with Law, Bing and An. Not much to write about really.

However, yesterday, I went to play paintball (NEW!). It is located at Turf City (1st time here, NEW!). Team "Near Side" was composed of Ronald, Zhao, Dylan, Xuan Bin, Roy, Jansen and me. Team "Far Side" was made up of Russell, Daniel, Louis, Menon, Menon's bro, Alec and Wai Yiu. The aim was to shoot down 2 targets 1st before bring an ammo box back to your home base.

It was a pretty wet week, and the ground was really muddy. The playing field was also littered with spent paint balls. We had a briefing 1st before the game started. The paintball gun isn't nearly as loud as a rifle, but it is really powerful. It can shoot a paint ball from the playing field to a RC buggy track some 100m away. Therefore, it has safety features that really resembled a real rifle.

After the pretty exciting game, I saw what a paint ball at that kind of speed can do. The skin is literally pushed away from the impact spot, and a unique kind of swelling bruise formed. I was at the "sniper tower", so I didn't get shot. That also meant that it is pretty difficult for me to hit anyone. Man of the match - Zhao, for his heroic attempts at getting the ammo box. He succeeded in getting it once, but got shot in the balls while getting it the second time. Interestingly, a swelling bruise formed on his balls.

I went home afterwards the same way I came, via the shuttle bus from Toa Payoh Bus Interchange.

Notes:
- Incidentally, Zhao also got hit the most times.
- Team "Far Side" won the match.
- Each player paid $50.
- The paint is washable (with water), and edible (like camo cream).
- Turf City has some good looking restaurants.

Update

Nothing much is happening now. During this period, I got eat out with my BMT friends once in January at a Japanese Food Street at Heeren, went around houses to play during Chinese New Year, and bought new clothes, phone (w950i) and psp (fat). Spent over $500 in 1 month. Heart-pain sia.

Gave Life

Today I donated blood after my lessons (NEW!). Only Fang Rui & Wai Yiu came to donate too. Quite fun. The registration process was the same as my previous (failed) attempt at NYP. After that comes the fun part. I got a simple blood test after the doctor interviewed me. I got "shot" with a needle and my blood was dripped into a blue chemical. After that I waited for my turn to donate.

When my turn came, I went to sit on the "bed". Then a nurse came and found my vein (right arm). After that she disinfected the spot with alcohol. I was injected with a colourless liquid which I suspect to be an anaesthetic. After a few minutes, I was "poked" with a needle that is about half the diameter of a Yakult straw. No pain at all! Then a small bag was filled up first for the nurse to take 2 tubes of blood. The nurse then switched the flow to the collection bag.

I just squeezed on the "heart shape squeezy thing" to speed up the process. After it was filled, the nurse removed the needle and I pressed on the hole with a cotton gauze. I waited for a while before a male nurse? came and bandaged my arm with a pink bandage. Fun!

I got some refreshments before I went back to class.

Notes:
- Wai Yiu cannot donate today because one of his family members is down with chicken pox.
- My blood sank in the blue chemical. I saw some spots of other people's blood in the beaker too. Some of those are floating on the chemical.
- I heard from Guo Qing that if you want, you can really speed up the donation process. He saw a woman squeezing really fast because she was rushing for class! Done in 3-4 minutes!
- Only Fang Rui and I got the pink bandages out of the 50+ that donated : )
- All of the refreshments provided gives you iron, water or both.

Jump into 2009

Yesterday was New Year's Eve. I went out with Joe, Kevin, Kevin's friend & Qing Rui to The Arena. It was one of the things that I would regret doing in 2008.

It was expensive, $38 to go in. Expected, since it was New Year's Eve. It was so crowded I can't avoid contact with other people. Squeezing from the entrance to the stage takes 20mins. Yea dance, yea move, yea touch, yea drink, but I don't really find any purpose in that. No offence to those who club regularly. I enjoyed that, but only when I am in there. When I came out of there at 2.50pm, I really feel like a zombie. A deaf zombie.

The streets was littered with people and rubbish. Lots of people were milling around, setting up camp beside the river etc. I went to a bus-stop outside The Central to try and take NR1, but after 1 hour there was still no buses that I can board. All of them were filled to the brim. I ended up going to the 7-11 in Liang Court to have some instant noodles... Only managed to take the bus at 4.50pm. Imagine that!

Notes:
- The Arena was really, really packed. I tried, but I couldn't avoid contact with every body-part of the girls in there. Yes EVERY part. In the end I just heck-cared.
- The few of us actually sat down at UE square to drink 1st before going in. That place was really relaxing.
- I can't really hear anything now.
- I don't think I'll go club anytime soon. But it will depend on the person asking me to go.
