Today I donated blood after my lessons (NEW!). Only Fang Rui & Wai Yiu came to donate too. Quite fun. The registration process was the same as my previous (failed) attempt at NYP. After that comes the fun part. I got a simple blood test after the doctor interviewed me. I got "shot" with a needle and my blood was dripped into a blue chemical. After that I waited for my turn to donate.
When my turn came, I went to sit on the "bed". Then a nurse came and found my vein (right arm). After that she disinfected the spot with alcohol. I was injected with a colourless liquid which I suspect to be an anaesthetic. After a few minutes, I was "poked" with a needle that is about half the diameter of a Yakult straw. No pain at all! Then a small bag was filled up first for the nurse to take 2 tubes of blood. The nurse then switched the flow to the collection bag.
I just squeezed on the "heart shape squeezy thing" to speed up the process. After it was filled, the nurse removed the needle and I pressed on the hole with a cotton gauze. I waited for a while before a male nurse? came and bandaged my arm with a pink bandage. Fun!
I got some refreshments before I went back to class.
Notes:
- Wai Yiu cannot donate today because one of his family members is down with chicken pox.
- My blood sank in the blue chemical. I saw some spots of other people's blood in the beaker too. Some of those are floating on the chemical.
- I heard from Guo Qing that if you want, you can really speed up the donation process. He saw a woman squeezing really fast because she was rushing for class! Done in 3-4 minutes!
- Only Fang Rui and I got the pink bandages out of the 50+ that donated : )
- All of the refreshments provided gives you iron, water or both.
My own, almost personal diary because few people comes in to read all these. I like to document the times when I go out with friends.
Jump into 2009
Yesterday was New Year's Eve. I went out with Joe, Kevin, Kevin's friend & Qing Rui to The Arena. It was one of the things that I would regret doing in 2008.
It was expensive, $38 to go in. Expected, since it was New Year's Eve. It was so crowded I can't avoid contact with other people. Squeezing from the entrance to the stage takes 20mins. Yea dance, yea move, yea touch, yea drink, but I don't really find any purpose in that. No offence to those who club regularly. I enjoyed that, but only when I am in there. When I came out of there at 2.50pm, I really feel like a zombie. A deaf zombie.
The streets was littered with people and rubbish. Lots of people were milling around, setting up camp beside the river etc. I went to a bus-stop outside The Central to try and take NR1, but after 1 hour there was still no buses that I can board. All of them were filled to the brim. I ended up going to the 7-11 in Liang Court to have some instant noodles... Only managed to take the bus at 4.50pm. Imagine that!
Notes:
- The Arena was really, really packed. I tried, but I couldn't avoid contact with every body-part of the girls in there. Yes EVERY part. In the end I just heck-cared.
- The few of us actually sat down at UE square to drink 1st before going in. That place was really relaxing.
- I can't really hear anything now.
- I don't think I'll go club anytime soon. But it will depend on the person asking me to go.
